Guanaco/Merino Yarn–Dark Caramel
50gms/200yards,
$89.00
The wind moves differently across Whidbey Island with each passing season. Our guanacos know those rhythms well—the fresh green of spring pasture, the warm days of summer, the first autumn rains. This yarn begins there, on our small farm, where each fleece is gathered with care and every skein carries the story of a place.
Guanacos are among the rarest fiber-producing animals in North America. With only a few hundred living in the United States, opportunities to work with their remarkable fiber are few. We blend 25% guanaco with 75% naturally colored Merino to create a sport weight yarn that is exceptionally soft, warm, and resilient. The guanaco lends a quiet halo and airy warmth, while the Merino brings elasticity and durability—an inviting balance for garments and accessories meant to be treasured.
Available in natural light and dark shades, this yarn is grown and processed close to home, preserving the character of the animals and the landscape from which it came.
When you cast on with this yarn, you’re joining a small circle that stretches from our Whidbey Island pasture to your hands. We hope what you make becomes part of its story.
Each skein weighs 50 grams and is 200 yards long. Fingering weight. Recommended needle size is US 3.
As with many small-batch, minimally processed farm yarns, you may occasionally find tiny bits of vegetable matter or slight variations in the spin. These natural characteristics are part of what makes each skein unique and reflect the journey from pasture to yarn.
